For personal bravery and courage of the highest order.
On 10 June 1944 during the third attack on . . . . . village, the
advance platoons were separated from the main . . . . . . . by an
infiltration party of Japs. Narbahadur Khattri was given an
important message to take forward. On the way he encountered the
enemy who fired at him but although hit he continued to go forward
and managed to deliver the message. He then, knowing the reply to be
important to the fighting then . . . . . . in spite of being
previously hit, indicated that he should be the return messenger as
he knew the enemy whereabouts . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . .disregard for personal safety and devotion to
duty . . . . . in keeping with the finest tradition of the Indian
Army.
