Operations in Burma, Feburary-April 1943
Throughout the operations of 77 Ind. Inf. Bde. in BURMA, from
February to April, 1943, Captain LORD as Staff Captain of the
Brigade was responsible for the collection and despatch of all
rations and supplies to be dropped on the Force from the air. The
promptitude with which all requests were met, many of them for items
for which the need had not been foreseen, reflects the greatest
credit on Captain Lord and the organization which he built up and
commanded. Delays, which in ordinary operations would have been of
little moment, would often have been disastrous in these; but by his
foresight and devotion to the interests of his comrades in the
Brigade, such delays were entirely lacking. To his unselfish and
loyal work over a long and exacting period, not only the success of
the operations, but the lives and early recovery to health of many
officers and men of the Brigade, are very largely due. |
