Action for which commended :-
|
|
For Gallant and Distinguished Services.
Throughout the hazardous operations conducted by Special Force troops
deep behind the enemy lines in BURMA between March and July of 1944,
this officer has either been commanding a Column or a complete
Battalion. He has participated in road block, ambush, attack and
defensive actions in all of which he has shown the highest degree of
initiative, skill and leadership.
His utter disregard of danger when exerting his powers of leadership
with troops new to battle, not only gave the troops confidence in
their actual engagements, but has had and will continue to have a
big influence in maintaining morale during the more static periods.
His courageous actions and his marked ability are of such degree
above that required in the course of an officer's ordinary duties
that they can only adequately be recognised by the authorisation of
the award for which he is now recommended. |
