Action for which recommended :-

|
At HENU on 17th March 1944 during the attack on PAGODA HILL,
stiff enemy resistance was encountered. The Bde. Commander ordered
certain personnel of a British Regt. to attack and ordered the
Gurkha contingent to aid the attack.
This officer personally and literally led a section of 'B' Coy
in an assault on the Pagoda. He was ahead of the leading British and
Gurkha troops, killed one Jap with his Sten gun, captured a M.M.G.,
killing the Jap gunner with the butt of this weapon. He helped hold
this position while a further attack went in to consolidate his
success.
His courage, dash and determination were of the highest order and
were a great example to all British and Gurkha troops present.
