Action for which recommended :-
|
|
A/Lt. Col. CANE has shown outstanding leadership and outstanding
courage during five attacks on strongly defended positions.
During these actions, he personally led a decisive bayonet assault
thereby ensuring success. During the attack on WAINGMAW, having by
his brilliant leadership captured his Column's objective, with his
right flank exposed by the troops on his right being unable to
secure their objective, this officer's great ability, determination
and complete disregard of personal safety, resulted in the position
being held in the face of successive enemy counter attacks and enemy
penetration.
This recommendation is based on personal observation of this
Officer's sterling qualities without which, success would not have
been obtained.
