Action for which recommended -
(1) When his column were crossing the MEZA he led a small party to do a recce of the river. He found Japanese in the area but the leading elements of the Column were already committed to the crossing. He helped to extricate the first platoon himself killing 7 Japanese by rifle fire and grenades. He voluntarily went back four times and led out other elements of the Column.
(2) When his column was on a road block on the PINLEBU-NEPIN road, the Recce Platoon was detailed for close recce duties. The Japanese attacked this position and by his personal initiative and calmness under fire, helped to halt the attack and extricate the platoon.
(3) He has shown considerable initiative and engaged the enemy on every opportunity offered. He has so far accounted for 12 Japanese.
