For inspiring leadership and devotion to duty completely regardless of personal safety On 28th April at LOINAWK (SJ2364), after a night battle with the Japanese, 10 men were reported lost and missing, but possibly still alive. Min Maung immediately volunteered to return single handed to the now Jap occupied village. This he did and in spite of active Jap patrols succeeded in collecting five men and indisputable proof that the remainder had been killed. He was forced to fight his way out, this he did by engaging the enemy with one companion whilst the remainder evacuated a wounded man. This heroic performance was a great inspiration to all ranks and typical of the G.C.O.'s conduct throughout. |
