For gallantry and devotion to duty in the face of the enemy. At MLA on 9th July 1944, Cpl AUDU TUBERI led his Sec in an attack on a strong enemy posn. In the course of the attack he was wounded but continued to lead his Sec fwd and refused to go back to the RAP. Later on he was again wounded but again led his Sec fwd in the face of heavy mortar and MMG fire. He remained with his Sec until the Platoon was finally ordered to withdraw. This NCO set a fine
example to his men, and showed a complete disregard for his own
safety. |
