Action for which recommended :-

|
|
On 18th June 1944, the Platoon was ordered to clear the village of
NAUNGKAIKTAW. Lance Sergeant BOON was in command of the centre
Section and displayed great gallantry and contempt of danger
throughout the action. He was always to the fore exposing himself
freely to enemy fire and encouraging his Section forward. With
grenades, LMG and Rifle he himself drove the enemy out of many
bunkers. When the left Section was held up by enemy MG fire he led
his Section around the flank and had to stand in the open to clear
the opposition with grenades and finished them off with his LMG. He
was very cool and set an excellent example of leadership. Out of the
nineteen enemy killed by the Platoon, Lance Sergeant BOON personally
accounted for seven.
