During the attack on point 2171 overlooking TAUNGHI on JULY 9th 44 Rfn DILLI BAHADUR gave excellent covering fire to his section and himself occupied a Jap forward trench. There he came under heavy LMG fire and his No. 2 was killed. This did not deter him, however, and he went forward immediately to another trench, whence he gave covering fire to such effect that his section was enabled to capture the posn. Although wounded, he continued to fire his gun (which had now jammed and would fire single shots only) until it stopped completely. I recommend him for the award of M.M. |
