Action for which recommended :-

This N.C.O. is a Section Commander of a Platoon which was under
constant fire from 12th to the 16th of April 1944. During this
action this N.C.O. showed great gallantry and was a great
inspiration to his men. Always cool issuing orders during battle he
himself always around his men during action completely disregarding
his own safety.
In the final attack when his position was penetrated and superior
forces all around him he held his section post with himself and one
man who continued to fire his bren and throw grenades, all the
remainder of his section being killed or wounded.
He was still holding his ground when the counter-attack was
delivered and it was then found that they were out of ammunition. It
was partly due to this section commander that the enemy was unable
to occupy our own positions.
At the final count there were approx. 100 killed Japs on his platoon
wire and front. He was at all times a most inspiring and brave NCO.
