This NCO in mopping up operations on 17th April 1944 displayed great courage and initiative. At a time when it appeared the operation was coming to a standstill, Cpl. Adamu Gafasa rallied his section and continued his advance. He has subsequently proved himself to be an excellent section Comd who uses his head and has real control over his section. On May
1st his section advanced within a few yards of a Jap dug-in position
and inflicted casualties with a Bren gun at very close quarters. |
