At Thetkegyyin on 26 March 44 Pte. Munt was Medical Orderly attached
to one of the Columns of his Regiment during their attack on enemy
positions. During this attack one of the machine gunners was
seriously wounded and lying in an exposed position. Pte. Munt ran
out under heavy fire to dress this man's wounds. While doing this
Pte. Munt came under close fire from enemy snipers. He promptly
seized the L.M.G. lying on the ground and silenced the snipers. He
then carried the wounded man back to cover and again ran out and
brought in the L.M.G. On both occasions heavy fire was being
maintained by the enemy. Throughout the action Pte. Munt displayed
great courage and worked unceasingly dressing the wounded and caring
for them under most difficult conditions.
