Action for which recommended :-
|
|
During the period 7th May to 25th May 1944 at 'Blackpool' Road
Block, Sgt. Pratt was commanding a section of Vickers M.M.G.
This section met the brunt of the enemy attacks and inflicted
tremendous casualties. Towards the end of the operation the section
was reduced to Sgt. Pratt and two men. In spite of this, they
continued to fight on and were the last men to leave the position.
Sgt. Pratt's personal example and his absolute disregard for his own
life was a source of inspiration to his command and admiration of
the three different Platoon Commanders in whose are he was located.
