On 3rd April 1944, 41 and 46 Columns were moving by night in the
area of THETKYTYIN. C.S.M. ROBSON was in the rear of the Column. At
2015 hrs the Column's tail of 100 animals and equipment was ambushed
with the result that animals stampeded and confusion reigned. C.S.M.
Robson quickly organised all spare men in the vicinity and covered
the evacuation of all animals and stores in the area. He and his
sections withstood two further attacks by the enemy before finally
withdrawing without loss of a men.His prompt action undoubtedly
saved valuable equipment and lives, in addition to inflicting
heavier casualties on the enemy than those sustained by the Column.
Valuable identifications were later obtained from enemy dead |
