At KAYIN on 18th April 1944 Jemadar PURANBAHADUR GURUNG the Platoon
Commander was wounded and had fallen with a grenade in his hand. The
pin of the grenade had been extracted and the fuse was burning. On
seeing this Naik Tikaram Thapa together with Rifleman Bhairabahadur
Thapa rushed forward under M.G. and grenade fire and pulled the
Jemadar under cover when the grenade exploded.
By this prompt action, these two men with complete disregard of
personal safety saved the life of the Jemadar.
