Action for which recommended :-
|
|
On the evening of the 23 May manned a Bren gun in a Bofors pit with
great effect against infantry advancing across the air strip. He
afterwards took post on the Bofors Gun which was firing at ground
targets. When this gun was put out of action he returned to the Bren
gun and helped cover the evacuation of the detachment from the gun
pit. Wounded whilst climbing the hill into the fortress he still
used the Bren, although having little protection, to help cover the
advance into the fortress of a platoon of our own infantry. Wounded
again in this operation he joined the infantry platoon and remained
with them in their positions during the whole night, and did
valuable service. |
