Action for which recommended -

For conspicuous gallantry in face of the enemy.

On June 16th NAIK LAZANG TU was with a section of men under orders to shoot up all rafts carrying  Japanese down the IRRAWADDY  past the village of MAMAKMAN just to the north of MYITKYINA on the east bank of the river, when a raft appeared and the Japanese opened heavy fire on the section whereupon Nk LAZANG TU sprang from his trench with complete disregard for personal safety and rushed down to the foreshore under fire to fire his sten gun at point blank range into the Japanese three of whom were instantly killed. He then followed the raft by running along the bank, still under fire from the Japanese for a mile, firing as opportunity offered whereby two more Japanese were killed.

He was in this and other actions a continual source of inspiration to his men.
