Private DANKS was No. 1 Bren Gunner in his Section. During the attack on MOGAUNG railway line, he located the enemy in a bunker. He immediately attacked them on his own spraying his gun whilst on the move. His action resulted in he himself killing four Japanese and gaining the bunker.
Again, when his platoon was ordered to advance on to the left flank they were pinned down by snipers in a bamboo clump. He quickly moved across the open again spraying the Clump. In this he killed three more enemy, making a total of seven Japanese. His bravery and action enabled his Platoon to gain these objectives.
In the last action, in the Clump area, he was wounded but still maintained his gun in action until ordered back to the R.A.P. Throughout the morning this man showed fearless courage and devotion to duty setting an inspiring example to his comrades.
