Chindit Memorial

Memorial to the Chindit Special Forces in Burma and their founder Major General Orde Wingate DSO.

Unveiled by HRH The Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh on 16th October 1990

The memorial features a bronze Chinthe statue on a tapered stone column. A blue enamel insignia of the Chindits on the front panel and a portait of Major General Orde Wingate, founder of the Chindits, on the back panel.

It is located in the Victoria Embankment Gardens in Westminster, London.

The memorial was given Grade II listed status in 2020, on the 75th anniversary of Victory in Japan Day and the end of World War II.
